Anyone who uses call-waiting and doesn't like voice callers to get busy signals; check with manufacturer to see whether your existing modem can be upgraded with a driver. Anyone whose ISP supports all V.92 and V.44 features. Game optimizations are not useful for ordinary Web surfing. These modems are more. Some brands (most notably internal modems equipped with the Rockwell chip set) use completely different chips that emulate the behavior of the 16550 and can be treated.
